ADHD Therapist for Women in South Carolina

By Kristen McClure, MSW, LCSW | Online ADHD Therapy Across South Carolina

I provide ADHD therapy for women throughout South Carolina, including online ADHD therapy for women who want a therapist who understands late diagnosis, masking, burnout, executive-function strain, and the hidden effort of holding everything together. I am based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and licensed to provide virtual therapy in both South Carolina and North Carolina. My practice focuses on ADHD in women, including late diagnosis, inattentive presentations, masking, burnout, anxiety, emotional regulation, executive-function strain, relationship and workplace stress, sensory overload, sleep and energy problems, and hormonal transitions.

Many of the women I work with have spent years compensating well enough that other people see competence while they experience exhaustion, missed details, shame, emotional overload, or a constant effort to keep everything from slipping. Therapy with me looks at that hidden workload directly instead of reducing ADHD to productivity or organization.

I work statewide through telehealth, including women in Columbia, Charleston, and Greenville, as well as communities throughout South Carolina.

Many women arrive in therapy after years of working hard to compensate for ADHD without enough understanding, support, or accommodations. Therapy can help make those patterns clearer and reduce the amount of effort required to manage everyday life.

Online ADHD Therapy in South Carolina

I offer individual therapy for women with ADHD throughout South Carolina via secure telehealth. Whether you're in Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Spartanburg, Rock Hill, Hilton Head, or anywhere else in SC — we can work together online without you needing to travel to an office.

Sessions are held via HIPAA-compliant video. You'll need a private space and a camera-equipped device. That's the whole setup. Many of my clients find that telehealth removes one of the biggest ADHD barriers to therapy: the logistical hurdle of getting there consistently.

Who I Work With

I work specifically with women with ADHD — especially women who:

  • Received a late ADHD diagnosis and are reprocessing their life through that lens
  • Have been masking for so long they've lost touch with who they actually are
  • Are experiencing burnout that won't respond to rest
  • Struggle with anxiety, shame, or rejection sensitivity that feels overwhelming
  • Have been through therapy before but felt the therapist didn't really get ADHD
  • Are going through hormonal shifts — PMDD, postpartum, or perimenopause — that are intensifying symptoms

My Approach

My work is neurodivergent-affirming. We look at how ADHD affects attention, emotions, relationships, energy, sensory needs, and day-to-day capacity, then build supports that fit your actual life. That can include reducing shame, changing expectations, using accommodations, and finding practical systems that work with your brain rather than against it.

My approach is neurodivergent-affirming and practical. We look at your ADHD patterns, the amount of effort daily life is costing you, what supports are missing, and where accommodations or changes in expectations could make functioning more sustainable.

I have more than 30 years of clinical experience, and ADHD in women has been a central part of my work for more than a decade. I am a member of APSARD, CHADD, ADDA, and the ADHD Coaches Organization.

What We Might Work On Together

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer in-person therapy in South Carolina?

No — I work exclusively via telehealth. All sessions are online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. This means I can work with women anywhere in South Carolina, regardless of where they live.

What areas of South Carolina do you serve?

Because my practice is fully online, I serve all of South Carolina — including Greenville, Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Spartanburg, Rock Hill, Hilton Head, Summerville, Florence, and beyond. If you are located in South Carolina at the time of your session, we can work together online.

What does a session cost?

Individual sessions are 55 minutes and $110 when paid privately. I accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. For out-of-network plans, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement, depending on your benefits.

How is ADHD therapy different from regular therapy?

A therapist who specializes in ADHD — especially in women — understands that standard advice often doesn't work for ADHD brains. They won't tell you to just make a to-do list or try harder. The work is built around how your brain actually functions, including the emotional, relational, and nervous system dimensions of ADHD that often go unaddressed.

What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?

That's very common among women with ADHD. Most standard therapy approaches weren't designed with ADHD brains in mind, and many women spend years in therapy without ever having their ADHD properly recognized or addressed. Neurodivergent-affirming therapy looks at ADHD in context and builds support around how your brain actually works.
