ADHD Therapist for Women in Raleigh, NC | Kristen McClure, LCSW
Neurodivergent-affirming telehealth therapy for women in Raleigh and the Research Triangle
If you are in Raleigh and looking for a therapist who specializes in ADHD in adult women, I offer telehealth therapy for women across North Carolina — including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and the surrounding Triangle region.
ADHD Therapy for Women in Raleigh, NC
Raleigh draws highly educated, high-achieving women — and a significant number of them are navigating ADHD that went unrecognized for years because they were too capable, too compensating, and too skilled at making it look like nothing was wrong.
That is the population I know best. Women who have functioned well in demanding environments while running on twice the effort of their peers, accumulating shame about the gaps, and wondering why things that seem easy for others require everything they have.
Late diagnosis. High masking. Burnout. The particular exhaustion of being gifted and ADHD in a world that only saw the gifted part. This is the work I do.
Why Telehealth Works for ADHD
I work exclusively via secure telehealth. For women in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill corridor, this removes the friction of commuting across the Triangle, managing parking, and arriving on time to an unfamiliar office — all of which are genuine executive demands for an ADHD nervous system.
For many women with ADHD, telehealth is genuinely better than in-person: a familiar environment reduces sensory load, the lack of commute removes a significant executive demand, and scheduling flexibility supports the consistent attendance that makes therapy work.
All sessions are HIPAA-compliant.
What I Work With
ADHD in women — including late diagnosis, burnout, high masking, and twice-exceptional presentations. Anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma as they overlap with ADHD. Rejection sensitive dysphoria, hormonal transitions, AuDHD, and the relational and professional impact of living with an ADHD nervous system.
My Approach
Neurodivergent-affirming. Non-deficit-based. Built around an empowerment model with five pillars: self-awareness, self-compassion, self-accommodation, self-advocacy, and self-care.
The goal is not to help you function better in systems that weren't built for you. It is to help you build a life that actually fits your brain.
Fees and Insurance
$110/session | 55 minutes | Most BCBS plans accepted | Superbills available for out-of-network reimbursement
Frequently Asked Questions
You can reach me by email or through my Psychology Today profile. I offer telehealth for women across North Carolina, so you don't need to be in Charlotte to work with me. Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and surrounding Triangle communities are all within reach.
Yes. Twice-exceptional women — those who are both gifted and ADHD — are a core part of my practice. High intelligence often masks ADHD, leading to late diagnosis and the particular exhaustion of performing competence while struggling privately.
Yes. OCD is one of my clinical specialties. It co-occurs with ADHD more often than many clinicians realize, and the two conditions interact in ways that matter significantly for treatment. I have 31 years of clinical experience treating both.
I accept most BCBS plans. For other insurers, I provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Contact your insurer about mental health benefits.
Late diagnosis is a significant part of my practice. The diagnosis brings relief — and grief — and therapy can help you process what it means and what changes now.
