a little worrried NEW
by: ABB

Dear Kristen-
I'm a little worried about my 2 1/2 year old sons behavior. He has a very difficult time warming up to people he doesn't know, but once he gets to know them he is very sweet and will interact. If someone he doesn't know touches him or speak to him he will scream "NO". He also screams "No" many times when people talk to me who he doesn't know or if he senses tention. It seems as though he has to warm up to a situation EVERY TIME we are in one. It's very distressing and embarrasing to me!!!

He seems to have some separation anxiety as well. Usually he cries (but only for a short period of time) when I leave him even when it's with people he knows well.

He started attended a daycare/preschool about 5 months ago and had a hard time adjusting to the new situation. He's doing much better now but still cries a bit when I leave him. His teachers report that he gets along well with the other children and is very cooperative. Once I arrive to get him he becomes very clingy and whiny again. He whines a lot!!!

Should I be worried or is this normal toddler behavior?
