Bipolar teen challenge, Love works

Great article. The child psychiatrists should read this.

I have spent many sleepless nights worrying about my daughter. She was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder after 3 long years.

It takes a lot of patience. We have had many professionals telling us to do DBT, residential care, etc. We stuck to our heart, put her in private school with very caring teachers, found the best doctors (out of network from our insurance), and treated her with love and patience.

She is now happy. She has a part time job, attends high school, drives, and is planning on college. These are all things a few years ago we did not think would happen.

With the love and support of her brother and sister, and of course her mom and dad, all of this was possible.

Thanks for sharing this Nancy. Love and patience are preconditions to kids getting better. Without question.
