Almost 2.. could she have bipolar?

by Sheena
(Altoona, Pennsylvania)

My daughter will be 2 at the end of September. She only says a total of 8 words and can sign thank you, eat, and more.

As much as I try to hide and throw away bottles she still manages to find one and will throw a fit if I attempt to throw it away. I can not leave the house for even a second without her because if I did she will throw a major fit and bang her head on EVERYTHING! She does not like other kids AT ALL! If there is even only 2 kids in the room she prefers to sit beside me with her head covered. She has a 1 year old brother which she is very aggressive with, there are times she has him pinned to the ground trying to bite him.

I have an appointment with a psychiatrist soon to see exactly what is wrong with her but it seems to me she either has bipolar, autism, or ADHD.

Hi Sheena. I'm interested to know what your psychiatrist said. These kind of problems with social interaction are often signs of autism, as is delayed speech. Please let us know how things are going.

Sincerely

Kristen McClure
